In a globalized world where the Internet has transformed the way business is done, the financial system could not keep up. In the late 90′s in our country some banks launched the Internet banking service.More and more financial institutions begin to use this channel as theBCP , Banco Continental , Interbank , among others. It has benefited not only customers but also to the institutions themselves.

The incorporation of new technologies has meant major changes for thefinance and banking , but also created new risks to security of information shared through the Internet. Therefore the issue of Internet banking remains a somewhat controversial. Unlike what happens in other countries, many of the users of our country consider this medium as a means of communication or source of information and tend to miss other services such as trade, government procedures, etc.
The main reason is the fear that there is potential virtual fraud .However, little by little, the users have been moving away from prejudice and have been venturing to use other online services .
On the other hand financial institutions are also subject to certain risks, depending on the type of Internet banking services that provide, among which include:
1. Strategic Risk: It is caused by adverse business decisions or improper implementation of business decisions when you do not fully understand the strategic and technical aspects of Internet banking.
2. Transaction Risk: Surge for fraud, error, negligence and inability to maintain expected service levels.
3. Compliance Risk: Because violations of laws, regulations and ethical standards, and could lead to affect the reputation, actual monetary losses and reduced business opportunities.
4. Reputation risk: arises from the negative public opinion. a bank’s reputation can be damaged by Internet banking services that are not up to the expectations of customers.
5. Risk of Information Security : It is caused by weak security processes information, that expose the institution to internal or malicious attacks from hackers, viruses, data theft, among others.
